Who we are

Wolf & Turtle is a family business, through and through. Nearly 20 years ago Anna and Max met by chance - an engineer and seasoned entrepreneur bump into each other in a small restaurant, unremarkable diner. The rest is just history.

Anna’s engineering experience was exactly what Max’s automotive businesses were missing. The two fell in love and started working together but when their daughter was born they realized 80-hour weeks were no longer possible. Everything had to change.

Working from home is a norm these days, but nearly 20 years ago it was blasphemy. Trying to run an international business from home was unheard of. But Anna and Max stuck with it, moved away from brick-and-mortar to online-only business. It wasn’t easy.

When Anna was pregnant with their son, she was diagnosed with a rare and incurable cancer. This changed everything. Health and family became the main focus, but soon Max’s health failed and they both were faced with choices no parent wants to ever face.

During the years of health and financial struggle, both Anna and Max realized that the online-only business approach needed some tweaks, and that the legacy and self-sustaining approach were the two things that would help them survive. After trying pretty much every online idea - from Amazon to social media, from blogging to travelling, from courses to Shopify - they found that the online publishing was the one business model that gave them what they were looking for.

“We have failed so many times. We went from the highest highs, to the lowest lows because we weren’t prepared. We didn’t understand what it takes to be ready for any eventuality. None of our business was ready to stay operational without us in place. We have learned it the hard way, and eventually we applied all the hard-learned lessons to our publishing business - and we never looked back.

Although we focus on publishing, our expertise comes from many walks of life. We were fortunate in the last few years to have worked with the largest online publishers. After we’ve owned a couple of very successful automotive businesses, it was an easy decision for our first publication to talk about cars. That decision in turn led to Captain Electro slowly expanding into everything we were passionate about - sailing, flying and motorcycle riding. With our own twist, of course. We were surprised, even shocked, at how many people enjoyed our point of view. We are forever grateful to our readers for sticking with us and supporting us along this wild journey. Here’s to many more years!”
